Community Development District 6 supervisors have opted to make no changes to its manual governing driveway expansions at homes within the districts.
CDD 6 supervisors had held a workshop on this topic last month.
At Friday’s CDD 6 meeting, Chairman Sally Moss said she was concerned that CDD 6, which includes Bridgeport at Miona Shores, Bridgeport at Lake Sumter, Tall Trees, Virginia Trace, Lake Shore Cottages, Edgewater Bungalows, Amelia, Largo, Sabal Chase, Caroline and Mallory Square, would start to look like “a cement city.”
“I’m really having second doubts about making any change,” Moss said.
CDD 6 Supervisor John Calandro said when people make a decision to live in a deed-restricted community they should be prepared to live with the consequences.
He said that he feared that “opening the door” to making changes would do more harm than good.
Architectural Review Committee representative for CDD 6 Irv Markley said the guidelines already in place are “serving the residents of District 6.”
But CDD 6 Supervisor Donna Kempa said the board needs to listen to the desires of the community.
“We need to grow as the community grows, we need to change as the community wants change,” Kempa said.
She made a motion to revise the ARC manual, but her motion died for lack of a second.
