‘Bloodstock’ at American Legion nets more than 200 units of blood

The first-ever “Bloodstock” was held today at American Legion Post 347.

The first-ever Bloodstock Saturday at American Legion Post 347 attracted a diverse group and collected more than 200 units of blood.

“It’s been a vision we’ve had,” said Tony Banner, manger of donor recruitment for OneBlood.

The familiar vehicles known as “the Big Red Bus” were on scene in the Legion’s parking lot as donors came forward.

“Summer time is an especially hard time to collect blood as a lot of blood donations come from high school students and school is not in session in the summer,” Banner said.

The event was such a success, Post Commander Tim Tierney said the post will consider doing the event twice a year.

Tierney showed his leadership at the event by rolling up his sleeve and donating a pint.

In all 10 musical acts gave of their time and performed as part of the event.

Plenty of food was on hand for volunteers and donors.
