81-year-old Villager dies from injuries suffered in collision this week on U.S. Hwy. 27/441

An 81-year-old Villager died Thursday night from injuries suffered in a two-car collision Wednesday morning on U.S. Hwy. 27/441.

George William Davis of the Village of Silver Lake was pronounced dead at 9:56 p.m. Thursday at Ocala Regional Medical Center.

His vehicle was struck at about 8 a.m. Wednesday by a white 2010 Honda Civic driven by 28-year-old Benjamin David Casey of Clermont.

Villager George William Davis was at the wheel of this vehicle Wednesday morning when it collided with another car on U.S. Hwy. 27/441.

Davis had made a left turn into the path of Casey’s vehicle. The morning sun may have momentarily blinded Davis.

Davis suffered head trauma in the collision and initially was transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital. Due to the critical nature of his injuries, he was transferred to ORMC.
