59-year-old woman arrested after allegedly trying to steal items from Beall’s

A 59-year-old woman was arrested Sunday night at Beall’s after she allegedly attempted to take items from the store without paying for them.

A loss prevention officer at Beall’s on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Lady Lake summoned law enforcement after detaining Loredana Filippis of Leesburg at about 6:35 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Filippis had allegedly taken items into a fitting room. When she left the fitting room, the items were concealed in her handbag, the arrest report indicated. The items were valued at $86.96.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $1,000.
