58-year-old woman riding Harley-Davidson motorcycle killed in crash in Citrus County

A 58-year-old woman riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle died of injuries suffered Saturday in a crash in Citrus County.

Margaret Proffitt of Largo had been riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson at 2:27 p.m. at East Gobbler Drive and Old Floral City Road when her motorcycle crossed the centerline and entered into the path of a 2015 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by 69-year-old John Joseph Meade of Panama City, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Proffitt was transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital where she later died of injuries suffered in the crash.

Meade escaped injury. A passenger in his pickup, 58-year-old Pamela Jane Meade, suffered minor injuries.
