A Villages resident has been killed in an accident that occurred at 2:39 a.m. Monday on Interstate 4 at State Road 574 in Hillsborough County.
Brian Robert Costello, 32, was a passenger in a 2013 Kia driven by Chad Arthur Prilliman, 40, of Wildwood.
Prilliman was traveling westbound on SR-574 in the outside lane when he failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection of I-4 and SR-574, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
As a result, his vehicle entered the intersection and traveled into the path of a 2006 Nissan SUV driven by Ashley Lyann Barrett, 30 of Tampa.
Costello suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the accident.
