A 28-year-old resident of the Village of Lake Deaton was arrested on a drunk driving charge after flunking an alphabet test early Friday morning.

Stephanie Marie Reed, who lives on New Moon Avenue, had been traveling northbound on U.S. 301 when a Marion County sheriff’s deputy noticed her black Nissan swerving on the roadway. She also appeared to be braking for no reason.

During a traffic stop, Reed admitted she had consumed four beers.

She struggled through field sobriety exercises and “incorrectly recited the alphabet by doing it in a fast manner,” according to the arrest report.

She provided breath samples that registered .142 and .137 blood alcohol content.

She was booked at the Marion County Jail on $1,000 bond.
