June E. Stanley, age 98, passed away on April 10, 2024, at Orlando Regional Medical Center, after suffering a stroke on April 7th. She is survived by her second husband, Thurman L. Stanley, whom she married in Lady Lake, Florida, on November 30, 1999. They resided in The Villages, Fruitland Park, Tavares, and Mount Dora.

June was born June Eileen Reynolds on June 13, 1925, in the town of Gifford, Illinois, to Clement L. and Lena Marie Reynolds. She remained on the family farm until her marriage to Glenn G. Thompson on October 31, 1942. She was the sister to four brothers, Leon Reynolds, Floyd Reynolds, Beryl Reynolds, and William “Bill” Reynolds (all since deceased).

After 18 years of marriage, June and Glenn moved from the Champagne-Urbana area of Illinois to Leesburg, Florida. She was a mother and homemaker and is also survived by her four children (Glenda Hazellief, Donna Hatcher, Dennis Thompson, and Kevin Thompson), one step-daughter (Melinda Vaughn), nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Her hobbies over the years included crocheting, puzzles, painting, reading, and ballroom dancing, and she traveled with various family members and friends by land, sea, and air to Europe, Rio de Janeiro, and Alaska, among other locations. She loved the mountains, and lamented the sale of the cabin in North Carolina she and Glenn owned for years.

There will not be a traditional visitation prior to the funeral, and the funeral will be limited to immediate family and surviving friends. It will be officiated by Chaplain Robert Nickell of Waterman Village.

A celebration of life will be held on April 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Waterman Village Chapel, located at 445 Waterman Avenue in Mount Dora.
