A bra-switching shoplifting suspect was apprehended with stolen merchandise at Belk in The Villages.
Tina Morrison, 34, of Leesburg, shortly before noon Saturday entered the store at La Plaza Grande where she selected multiple items and put them into a shopping cart, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She left the cart in an aisle and then walked to the ladies department, where she threw numerous items of clothing over her shoulder.
Morrison made several trips to the fitting room and after exiting each time, “items would be missing from her selections,” the arresting officer wrote in a report. She selected a backpack and a Belk loss prevention officer noticed that the price tag had been removed from the backpack.
The loss prevention officer told police Morrison experienced a “wardrobe malfunction” and her bra was exposed. The loss prevention officer noted that Morrison was wearing a black bra with dots. She entered the fitting room with several bras and panties. The loss prevention officer noted that Morrison was now wearing a burgundy bra when she re-emerged from the fitting room.
When Morrison went to check out, she paid for four items.
She departed the store with $176.74 in unpaid merchandise, including the burgundy bra valued at $43.99 and the backpack valued at $32.99.
Morrison was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
She has been previously charged with theft in 2017 and 2018.
She was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail on $5,000 bond.
