A 16-year-old girl from Fruitland Park and a 19-year-old man from Leesburg were killed in an automobile accident at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday on State Road 44 in Lake County.
Elizabeth Yasko had been a passenger in a car driven by Chase Fenbers, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
They had been traveling in a four-door Honda when their vehicle was passing another vehicle and crashed head-on into 2004 Ford van driven by Christopher Diglio, 42, of Oviedo. He suffered minor injuries.
Fenbers was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Yasko was transported to ORMC where she died of injuries suffered in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the FHP.
